Helpful Information for Registration and Waitlisting

College of Business has created a few short instructional videos to help you navigate this process:

To Register for classes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0X0293XwoU

Find your Registration day & time: https://youtu.be/xIxariX6t_8

Registration at OSU is divided into 2 parts.

  • Phase 1: Register for up to 16 credits, no waitlisting may occur during this time. Online business courses are coded for E-campus COB majors only.
  • Phase 2: Register for up to 19 credits, waitlisting begins. COB students may now register for online business courses.

You are assigned a specific day and time to register for both Phase 1 and Phase 2 based on the number of credits you have completed plus credits in-progress coursework.

  • Senior standing = 135+ credits completed/in-progress.
  • Juniors = 90-134 credits completed/in-progress.
  • Sophomores = 45-89 credits completed/in-progress.
  • Freshmen= 1-44 credits completed/in-progress. (New students register at START).

S/U Grades (Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory Grades)

Detailed info is online at Registrar's Office.

  • S/U is a grading mode that gives you credit for a class, but not a grade.

S grade = C- or above

U grade = D+ or below

  • 36 credits is the maximum total students may S/U.
  • Students may not S/U any COB courses or COB major requirements. This includes any courses that are part of the Pre-Business Core (ECON 201, COMM 111, etc.), Pro-School Core or a COB major.

To S/U classes, go to Austin Hall 122 and fill out the S/U grading form. We will stamp it and then you will turn it in at the Registrar’s office. There's no need to schedule an advising appointment to complete this process.

Online Students: Complete this form and email to your academic advisor.

Taking COB Courses if a Non-Business Major/Minor

Go to Austin Hall 122 on the first day of a given term and meet with a COB advisor to discuss possible access to a particular course. You must meet all prerequisite and class standing requirements.

Dropping or Withdrawing from a Class

During the first week of a given term, you may drop a class online and receive a full tuition refund. There will be no record of the class on your transcript.

After week one, you may withdraw from a class for a partial refund (50%) up to the end of week 3. The option to withdraw from a course expires at the end of week seven. A "W" will appear on your transcript. See your advisor before dropping or withdrawing from a course to find out how it may impact your academic plans.

For detailed information on withdrawing from courses, see the Registrar's Office site.

Summer Session dates/policies vary.
