An international experience can provide students with the necessary skills to work effectively with an increasingly diverse U.S. population and global job market. LOCATIONS
Accademia Italiana Study Abroad

Accademia Italiana is a leading fashion and design school located in Florence and Rome, Italy, just steps away from some masterpieces of art and monuments.  At the Florence campus, the courses offered include fashion and design (Interior Design, Product Design, Textile Design, Graphic Design, Photography and more).  The Rome campus offers courses in fashion and design (Interior Design, Product Design, Graphic Design, and Jewelry Design).

Terms available to study abroad: Summer, Fall, or Winter/Spring

Application requirements:

  • OSU GPA of at least 2.5
  • Good standing at OSU
  • Fall or Spring term applicants must be in Pro-School
  • Summer applicants may be in Pre-Design or Pro-School
  • Fall term applicants are required to take BA 348 in the spring term prior to studying abroad

London College of Fashion Study Abroad

The London College of Fashion is a prominent fashion school in London, England. The program offers students from all over the world the opportunity think differently, using fashion to examine the past, build a sustainable future, and improve the way we live. Students can take classes in Fashion Styling, Fashion Public Relations, Fashion History and Artefact, Visual Merchandising, and British Cultural Studies.

This program is open to Apparel Design, Merchandising Management, and Design & Innovation Management with Option in Apparel Design students only.

Terms available to study abroad: Summer, Fall, or Winter/Spring

Application requirements:

  • OSU GPA of at least 3.0
  • Good standing at OSU
  • Fall or Spring term applicants must be in Pro-School
  • Majoring in: Merchandising Management, Apparel Design, or Design & Innovation Management with Option in Apparel Design
  • Summer applicants may be in Pre-Design or Pro-School
  • Fall term applicants are required to take BA 348 in the spring term prior to studying abroad

Hanyang University Exchange Program

Study fashion in one of Asia’s fashion capitals; Seoul, South Korea.  The Korean fashion industry plays a large role in the international market, with many of the world’s largest clothing brands, liaison, and wholesale offices located in Seoul.  Students can take coursework in international fashion business and compliance, global leadership and history of Korean costume construction, in addition to other fashion related coursework.

Terms available to study abroad: Fall, Winter/Spring

Application requirements:

  • OSU GPA of at least 2.75
  • Good standing at OSU
  • Fall or Spring term applicants must be in Pro-School
  • Majoring in: Merchandising Management, Apparel Design, or Design & Innovation Management with Option in Apparel Design
  • Fall term applicants are required to take BA 348 in the spring term prior to studying abroad
  • Student must be nominated by OSU prior to application to host institution

DESIGN APPLICATION DEADLINES:
  • Fall Term Study Abroad: March 1st
  • Spring Term Study Abroad: September 15th
  • Summer Term Study Abroad: February 15th
     
HOW TO APPLY FOR DESIGN STUDY ABROAD OPTIONS:
  • Schedule an appointment with a design advisor by calling 541-737-3716 or visiting Austin Hall, Room 122. Be prepared to answer questions about your reasons for wishing to study abroad. 
  • Apply for study abroad through the OSU GO Application
  • Complete all requirements of the OSU GO application as found here:
  • Complete and submit the application to your host institution. Work with your design advisor to select the appropriate courses of study.
    • Note: Application deadlines vary by institution. Ask your design advisor about your specific program.
  • Upon acceptance to study abroad by OSU, work with your advisor or the Office of Global Opportunities to complete a mandatory pre-departure orientation. NOTE: If a pre-departure orientation is not completed, students will not be allowed to study abroad.
    • Fall study abroad students are required to register for BA 348 in the spring term prior to their departure.
    • Winter/Spring study abroad students should work with a design advisor.
    • Summer study abroad students will attend the Office of Global Opportunities orientation.
