The Austin Entrepreneurship Program (AEP) is an initiative of Oregon State University’s College of Business.

Our mission is to develop the innovation and entrepreneurial knowledge and skills of OSU students, faculty, alumni and the greater Oregon innovation ecosystem. We strive to foster OSU student success, directly and by supporting OSU faculty teaching and research. Through our programs and thought leadership, we seek to positively impact innovation, startup activity and new job creation in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest.

AEP programs and activities are characterized by an applied, innovative and experiential approach. Programs and activities targeted to OSU student innovators, makers and entrepreneurs include:

  • Austin Venture Lab – An immersive course where students use the DAMlab MakerSpace to develop products, design a marketing campaign and launch a real business. The course (BUS 199) is two terms (winter and spring) and can be taken for 2 or 3 credits.
  • DAMlab – The DAMlab is a partnership between the OSU colleges of Business and Engineering. The DAMlab, located in Buxton Hall, allows OSU students to use 3D printers, laser cutters and prototyping tools to conceptualize and build products to realize their business ideas. Preferred access to DAMlab is for Austin Venture Lab and OSU Innovation Nation students and members of relevant student clubs (Entrepreneurship Club, Robotics Club, 3D Printing Club and Inventors Enterprise Club).
  • Entrepreneur Mentoring Program – A comprehensive mentoring program and online resource is being developed to connect OSU entrepreneurs with mentors and experts drawn from OSU alumni and the greater Oregon startup ecosystem.
  • Entrepreneurial Skills Workshops – Custom workshops on innovation, entrepreneur and maker topics will be organized for the OSU community.
  • Giles Entrepreneur Fund – Need funding to start a business? Students can apply in winter term for funding that will advance their startup idea (prototyping, materials, services and more).
  • Launch Corps – Launch Corps provides customized startup support (education and funding) for select students enrolled in the OSU Innovation Management MBA program who are also developing a business idea. Special scholarships are available for women Innovation Management MBA students who wish to launch a new business venture.
