Still considering whether to add or drop a class? This is the last week you can do it.

But first, talk to your advisor. Tell them why you’re thinking about making a change. If you and your advisor decide you should add a class, you’ll need to get department approval. If you decide to drop a class, you can still do that online; the deadline is Friday, Jan. 17.

After Friday and through Feb. 21, you can still withdraw from a class online. What’s the difference? A dropped course does not appear on your academic transcript. A withdrawn course will appear on your transcript with a grade of W. However, the W does not affect your GPA.

In addition to your courses, there are many other opportunities where you can learn beyond the classroom, get involved in the community and have some fun, often all at the same time:

  • Talk to your professors or advisor about opportunities to work on researchprojects.
  • Attend a First Steps meeting where you can learn more about Study Abroadprograms.
  • Contact the Center for Civic Engagement, where you can apply your passion and skills to make the world a better place through service, philanthropy and activism.

Remember to visit the first-year student website for more tips and ideas. Have a good rest of your week!
