Silva

Executive Director, Friends of Outdoor School

A lifelong volunteer, Kim Silva, MPA, CFRE, has been working in nonprofits professionally since 2000. After a decade in the corporate world (insurance and finance), Kim returned to her passion for community organizations, raising money and hosting fabulous parties deep into the night for Portland Center Stage. Being a morning person, Kim hung up her dancing shoes to lead the development department first at Friends of Trees, then at Hoyt Arboretum Friends. Since 2006, Kim has been the Executive Director of the ever-evolving Friends of Outdoor School including overseeing the successful campaign to secure state funding for Oregon students to attend a week of Outdoor School. Kim holds the Certified Fundraising Executive designation, has a master's in public administration (environmental policy concentration) from Portland State University, and a B.S. in business administration (finance and insurance concentrations) from California State University, Sacramento. Bringing together her passion for nature and community, Kim co-owns a small, Portland micro-winery called Caelestis Cellars. When she isn't busy with Outdoor School or wine, Kim spends her time constantly making improvements on her old home and enjoying good music and meals with her teen son, husband, extended family, friends, and a loyal golden retriever named Chelsea.
