Course Overview

In this five-week Lean Six Sigma Project Application course, you will gain hands-on experience applying Lean tools and techniques to enhance quality, reduce costs, and improve efficiency. Through real-world case studies, you will collaborate with a team to create a project charter, develop an implementation plan, calculate ROI, perform stakeholder analysis, analyze data, create work breakdown structures, and eliminate waste. 


By the end of the course, you will demonstrate tangible and measurable results aligned with your project goals. Additionally, the course addresses strategies for managing team conflict, enhancing leadership skills, and motivating your team.

 

This course must be taken last in the program sequence, after successful completion of the four core courses of the program.


Course Format

Instructor-led week-to-week cadence, with assignments, discussion boards, and learning assessments (quizzes) opening on Monday and to be completed by the end of the week. This gives students flexibility to review materials at their leisure. Additionally, recorded lectures and video recordings are available to enhance learning objectives.

This course is part of the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt program.

What You’ll Learn

After successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
  • Utilize Lean Six Sigma tools to analyze and improve processes by applying Value Stream Mapping to a real-world case study.

  • Apply Lean Six Sigma principles to assess project effectiveness and financial impact through the calculation of Return on Investment (ROI) in a case study context.

  • Employ Lean Six Sigma methodologies to evaluate and enhance project scheduling by calculating the probability of project completion before a defined deadline when dealing with multiple dependencies.

  • Apply Lean Six Sigma tools to streamline operations by reducing complexity within a product line, utilizing a relevant case study.

  • Demonstrate effective communication and conflict resolution skills by crafting messages designed to mitigate conflicts and foster collaboration within a project team.

Henry "Hank" Rogers, is a certified Black Belt instructor and experienced management, consulting, and training professional. His experience spans years of supervision, management, quality improvement, consulting, training, and engineering. He has developed and delivered major training programs in diverse industries such as high-tech engineering and manufacturing environments, financial services, health care, utilities, and governmental organizations. His specializations are in Project Management, Lean Operations, Six Sigma, Finance, and Quality Systems. 

Hank holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame, an M.S. in Industrial Technology from Illinois State University, and an M.B.A. from California Polytechnic University, Pomona with an emphasis in Finance.
