Safeguarding Patient Information in Healthcare

Cybersecurity for Healthcare Professionals provides healthcare managers and professionals with a practical foundation in information security principles essential to protecting patient data and organizational systems. Given the significant legal, financial, and personal harm that can result from healthcare data breaches, the program focuses on applying cybersecurity practices within HIPAA‑ and HITECH‑regulated environments.

Participants examine how breaches occur, common threat actors and attack methods, and strategies for securing Personal Health Information (PHI) while it is accessed, stored, and transmitted. The program covers key security frameworks and controls, including risk management, access management, physical and technical safeguards, incident response, and disaster recovery planning. Learners gain actionable knowledge to strengthen compliance efforts, reduce organizational risk, and enhance cybersecurity resilience in healthcare settings.
