Overview
Biography
Alexa Carey (she/her) serves as the Destination Stewardship Strategist at Travel Oregon. Her role focuses on directing destination stewardship initiatives and collaborations to support goals at the destination level as well as cultivating partnerships and capacity to leverage resources and solve for destination challenges. Alexa’s passion centers around creating thriving, rural communities. Her educational background includes degrees from the Oregon State University Honors College in Marketing, Management, International Business – Business Administration and achievement recognition for Sustainable Tourism Destination Management from Cornell University. She began her career as a Resource Assistance for Rural Environments (RARE) member based at the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians’ new business incubator, the Umpqua Business Center. Alexa’s speaking history includes the Oregon Governor’s Conference on Tourism, Regards to Rural, Oregon Economic Development Association, Oregon Main Street Conference, International Downtown Association Annual Conference, and more. Outside of her ten year tenure at Travel Oregon, Alexa teaches personal finance and career visioning, mentors emerging female leaders and AmeriCorps members, and enjoys exploring the hidden gems of Oregon.
