Introducing the Ricci Leadership Academy

Launching fall 2025, this hands-on experience prepares students to lead with purpose and impact — in business and beyond. Backed by Joth Ricci ’91, it is leadership education, reimagined.

At the College of Business, leadership development is a defining part of our mission. Through hands-on learning, strong industry partnerships and a focus on real-world impact, we prepare students to lead with confidence, clarity and purpose — in business and beyond.

The next step in this commitment is the launch of the Ricci Leadership Academy — a year-long, cohort-based experience starting in fall 2025. Designed to challenge and support students across disciplines, the academy will be a cornerstone experience for those ready to grow as strategic thinkers, effective communicators and bold decision-makers.

Learn by doing. Build skills for tomorrow. Create opportunities for everyone.

Rooted in experiential learning, the Ricci Leadership Academy reflects the college’s signature approach: learning by doing.

Students won’t just study leadership — they’ll practice it, reflect on it and grow through real-world challenges that build confidence, character and readiness for what comes next.

These values shape the Ricci Leadership Academy — and define leadership development at Oregon State’s College of Business.

Powered by partnership

The Ricci Leadership Academy is made possible through the support of Joth Ricci ’91, former CEO of Dutch Bros and College of Business Executive in Residence.

Reflecting on his gift, Ricci shared:

“Oregon State’s College of Business is a changemaker for industry throughout Oregon. Supporting this leadership academy is a way to invest in the next generation — leaders who will drive innovation, build strong communities and create lasting impact.”

Thanks to Ricci’s generosity, the college is deepening its role as the university’s home for leadership education — with programming that prepares students for real-world challenges across all sectors.

Built by experts, backed by mission

Elizabeth French, instructor in the School of Management, Entrepreneurship and Supply Chain, will serve as the academy’s first director. She is leading the development of a curriculum that challenges students both inside and outside the classroom, combining coursework, coaching and immersive experiences to support personal and professional growth.

Tim Carroll, Sara Hart Kimball Dean, College of Business, emphasized how the academy reflects the college’s mission and leadership focus:

“The Ricci Leadership Academy brings our mission to life — empowering students to lead with integrity, apply their knowledge in meaningful ways and shape the future of business and society. These are the leaders of tomorrow.”
