Course Overview

The Healthcare Leadership Certificate is a fully remote leadership program designed for professionals across industries who want to sharpen leadership skills, improve team effectiveness, and drive organizational success.

Developed in partnership with the Hospital Association of Oregon, this program is especially relevant for healthcare professionals stepping into supervisory and management roles. It equips both emerging and experienced leaders with practical tools to navigate the complexities of today’s healthcare environment—while remaining highly applicable across business, technology, education, and nonprofit sectors.

The program begins with four live virtual kickoff sessions (12 hours total) and continues with six online instructor-led modules delivered over five months. This format balances flexibility with meaningful peer collaboration and guided coaching. No prerequisites are required.

Course Format

The program begins with a live virtual kickoff series, followed by a structured five-month learning experience that includes weekly instructor-led activities, assignments, discussion boards, and assessments.

    After successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

    Virtual Kickoff (4 Sessions | 12 Hours Total)

    • Explore leadership identity, strengths, and values
    • Map organizational strategy and audience needs
    • Identify leadership strengths and areas for growth
    • Create an Individual Development Plan (IDP)
    • Assess team culture and dynamics
    • Use scorecards to track performance and strategic objectives

    Online Modules (Six, 3-week each) 

    1. Emotional Intelligence & Self-Awareness – Understand EQ, identify strengths, and build an action plan
    2. Interpersonal Communication – Adapt communication styles and strengthen dialogue across contexts
    3. Conflict Resolution – Apply negotiation, mediation, and active listening techniques
    4. Inclusivity & Diversity – Build cultural responsiveness and turn inclusion into action
    5. Problem-Solving & Leading Change – Use tools like SWOT and root cause analysis to lead innovation and resilience
    6. Team Development & Collaboration – Understand team stages, overcome barriers, and build trust-driven performance

    John M. DeMarco, PCC, PHR, M.Div.

    Across the past 25 years, John has proven that he can connect with and help anyone, anywhere—whether C-Suite executives, physicians, attorneys, family business owners, regional directors, people managers, or high-potential individual contributors—grow their leadership skills and achieve greater success.

    John’s clients have spanned industries including accounting, automotive, construction, government, healthcare, hospitality, human resources, law, non-profits, physical therapy, real estate, retail, sales, technology, telecommunications, the U.S. Army, and wireless. He’s also held full-time roles in financial services, healthcare, non-profits, publishing, and telecommunications. While John is industry-and role-agnostic, tailoring every engagement to a client’s growth needs and desired outcomes, his niches are executive coaching, 360° feedback, leadership assessments, and facilitation.


    His multidisciplinary mindset is fueled by expertise not only in coaching but also the Socratic Method, Human-Centered Design, and storytelling. It is seasoned by an ongoing fascination with the human condition through the nuances of AI, architecture, filmmaking, jazz, literature, mindfulness, mythology, philosophy, psychology, spirituality, and world history. A lifelong writer and a journalist in his early career, John’s authored three books, three screenplays, and ongoing thought pieces that he shares on LinkedIn and other domains.


    John lives in Nashville, Tennessee, is married, and has three young adult daughters as well as one young adult and very mischievous orange tabby cat.
