Course Overview

In a knowledge-based economy, organizations increasingly recognize the critical importance of their most valuable resource — their people — to business success. Yet, human resource management is too often regarded as a purely administrative or operational function. This perception can exclude HR professionals and teams from meaningfully contributing their insights and expertise in support of larger business goals.

Strategies for Business Success equips professionals to position HR as a strategic business partner. By developing business acumen, financial literacy, and communication skills, participants will be prepared to elevate HR’s role within their organizations. Using real-world frameworks and case studies, they will explore how to align HR initiatives with business strategy, how to demonstrate HR's value to internal and external stakeholders, and how to influence key decision-makers. They will also explore the interplay between HR structure, HR strategy, and organizational culture, enabling them to maximize opportunities, manage resistance, and adapt to evolving business needs. In their capstone projects, participants will showcase their ability to think and act as strategic HR leaders by crafting a compelling case for a proposed HR initiative that supports business goals and demonstrates positive financial impact.

Course Format

Instructor-led week-to-week cadence, with assignments, discussion boards, and learning assessments (quizzes) opening on Monday and to be completed by the end of the week. This gives students flexibility to review materials at their leisure. Additionally, recorded lectures and video recordings are available to enhance learning objectives.

This course is part of the Human Resources Management program.
