Course Overview

The Fundamentals of HR course offers a comprehensive exploration of the essential principles and practices of human resource management across the entire employee lifecycle. Participants will gain a solid foundation of knowledge and skills necessary to effectively navigate the complex relationship between employees and employers.


Throughout the course, participants will delve into the key aspects of HR management, starting with the recruitment and staffing process. They will learn strategies for attracting and selecting qualified candidates, conducting effective interviews, and ensuring a smooth onboarding experience. Participants will also explore best practices for employee training and career development, understanding the importance of ongoing learning and growth opportunities in enhancing employee performance and satisfaction.


The course covers the fundamentals of employee compensation and benefits, providing insights into designing competitive compensation packages that align with organizational goals and industry standards. Participants will learn how to navigate employee performance management, including setting clear performance expectations, providing constructive feedback, and conducting performance evaluations. By understanding the theory behind employee morale and group dynamics, participants will gain valuable insights into fostering a positive work environment and promoting effective teamwork.


Course Format

Instructor-led week-to-week cadence, with assignments, discussion boards, and learning assessments (quizzes) opening on Monday and to be completed by the end of the week. This gives students flexibility to review materials at their leisure. Additionally, recorded lectures and video recordings are available to enhance learning objectives.
