The specialized master’s option in finance provides focused training in financial markets and institutions as you study access to and use of money and capital.

The coursework covers a wide range of finance topics including investments, portfolio analysis, international financial markets, derivatives and risk management, financial modeling, commercial banking and financial planning.

Our graduates have career opportunities on the investment management and corporate side of the market from analyst to manager and executive positions.

What you’ll learn

Evaluate resources and make investment decisions, and understand the tradeoff between risk and reward using appropriate quantitative methods.

Provide defensible financial recommendations by applying financial tools and analytical methods.

Understand how individuals, businesses and public entities access financial markets.

Develop a strong quantitative and analytical focus as you study access to and use of money and capital.

Capstone project will focus on mergers and acquisitions, international finance or ethics and corporate social responsibility.

The Oregon State Investment Group is a student-led asset management organization that provides portfolio management on behalf of the Oregon State University Foundation. MBA students and undergraduate students work together to provide high-caliber sector analysis and portfolio management.

Founded in 2007, OSIG members perform in-depth equity research, fundamental valuation techniques and portfolio management. OSIG assets under management, exceeding $4 million, are dispersed between three distinct portfolios: the Large-Cap Portfolio, the D.A. Davidson Competition Portfolio, and the Global Portfolio.
