The Career Success Center provides a variety of opportunities for students and employers to engage. From alumni who are willing to mentor College of Business students to employers who educate students about their company brands and employment opportunities, the information below will provide you with information about programs and events that strengthen connections between employers and students.
Information Sessions - The CSC works with companies in a variety of industries to hold information sessions. Each session includes an in-depth discussion about the company and different career paths available, and may offer the opportunity to meet recruiters or leaders afterward.
Lunch and Learn - Industry professionals assist students with professional development throughout the academic year. Workshops include résumé writing, cover letters, job search strategy, LinkedIn, personal branding and interviewing skills. These workshops are a great way to help students prepare for their career search, and for employers to further connect with students and enhance their hiring brand.
Career Fairs and Hospitality Suite - Career fairs are held each term at the CH2M HILL Alumni Center. These events allow hundreds of students throughout campus to meet and network with more than 100 companies, and learn about internship and job opportunities. After the fairs, the Career Success Center partners with OSU Athletics to host a hospitality suite where recruiters can meet with business undergraduates, MBA students and student-athletes in a more informal atmosphere. The event is similar to a cocktail reception where students and employers can network one-on-one.
Mock Interviews - Mock interviews provide students an opportunity to practice interviewing techniques with real companies, and have a professional review of their résumé. Some employers use mock interviews to recruit students, and employers receive the résumés of all students who participate. Mock interviews are held once per term in the academic year.
Business Roundtable (BRT) - The Business Roundtable meets quarterly in the Portland area for networking and a presentation by Oregon State alumni about business topics. Members of the BRT include successful business men and women who mentor participating business students. These events may also be held in Seattle and Corvallis.
BIS Meet the Firms Night (Winter Term) - This event is a career fair for BIS majors. Employers engage students in conversations about internship and job opportunities. Meet the Firms also gives students a chance to expand their network and learn about possible career paths.
Finance Speed Dating (Fall Term) - The goal of this event is to inform students entering the finance program about the variety of career paths and opportunities available with companies in their future career fields.
Accounting Meet the Firms (Fall Term) - This event is a career fair for accounting students featuring public accounting firms, private industry companies and government agencies that recruit accounting majors. It is held during the second week of fall term.
Travel Friday – Employers host students on-site at their company for a deeper look into company culture, employment opportunities, and networking with key members of the company.
