Our Financial Planning option helps you empower others to have a secure and prosperous long-term financial future through responsible planning. With the knowledge and skills, you acquire, you can completely control your finances. Careers in financial planning are expected to grow fast, at a rate of 15% through 2031, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics — and USA Today notes that careers in financial services can start between $50-70K a year, with experienced financial advisors earning $192,000/year, on average.

People today increasingly turn to financial planners to safeguard and grow their assets to meet current needs and long-term financial goals. Financial planning requires expertise across diverse domains, including investments, insurance, real estate, retirement, and taxes.

Our Financial Planning program has been approved by the CFP Board, offering a comprehensive curriculum covering all the Principal Knowledge Topics. This curriculum equips students with the knowledge required to fulfill coursework requirements and prepare for the CFP® exam. The CFP® certification can elevate your career, enabling you to serve your clients better and unlock additional earning potential.

Financial planning is an option for finance majors through Ecampus and in Corvallis.

‘The Terminator’ among the angels

The Terminator is an Honors College graduate, a veteran Oregon State Investment Group officer and health care sector analyst, a 2018 outstanding senior in Finance, and a double major in International Finance and Mathematical Economics.

When the seasoned investors in the room grew quiet, she was the one — a teenager at the time — who spoke her mind against funding a company and moved the group toward a better investment.

“I learned so much through the Accelerator and found a passion for the startup space,” Marzi said. “I really enjoyed researching companies and markets and helping entrepreneurs make meaningful decisions to find success in their ideas.”
