Concept – PharmD/MBA
The Pharm.D./MBA double degree is designed to enhance the business skills, knowledge and practical experience of students in the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program. The Pharm.D./MBA program is intended for individuals who seek careers that may lead to managerial and executive positions in the pharmaceutical industry and in health care delivery systems that provide pharmacy services to patients.

Pharm.D./MBA Learning Outcomes (beyond the MBA Core Learning Outcomes)

Understand the concepts, principles and fundamentals of pharmacy operations, finance and personnel management.

Create a business plan for the purpose of evaluating alternatives to offer pharmaceutical services.

Pharm.D./MBA Admission Requirements

Students must be fully admitted into the Pharm.D. program at OSU and have earned a four-year undergraduate degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last 90 quarter credits received.

International students must achieve a minimum score of 575 on the paper based version, a minimum score of 91 total and sub scores of at least 22 on the internet based version (iBT), or a minimum score of 7 on the IELTS, or a minimum score of 130 on the Duolingo.

The GMAT/GRE requirement is waived for students admitted to the OSU Pharm.D. degree program
Admission to the MBA program as part of the Pharm.D./MBA double degree program presumes concurrent enrollment in good standing within both degree programs. Any student who withdraws from the Pharm.D. program may be required to meet the full admission requirements of the MBA program (that is, completion of GMAT/GRE, submission of letters of reference, etc.) and will need to complete the requirements of an established MBA track (i.e. Business Analytics, Marketing, Org Leadership, etc.).

Note: PHAR 798 provides the experiential and integrative component for the MBA program through a 6-week clerkship where the student performs management functions within a Pharmacy.
MBA Foundation Knowledge Requirements
Foundation Knowledge coursework includes business fundamentals such as Accounting, Business Law, Finance, Marketing, Basic Statistics, and Operations Management. The foundation knowledge courses may be completed online, completed on-campus as undergraduate coursework, or completed in an intensive series of courses offered in the summer. Students who possess an undergraduate degree or minor in business may have satisfied all of the foundation knowledge requirements – please check with the Graduate Business Program Staff.
