Innovation Nation is our living–learning community for first-year students. As a member of Innovation Nation, you will live in one of our three business-themed residence halls – Weatherford, Poling, or the ILLC Global Village  – where you’ll dive into a variety of learning opportunities created with people like you in mind. People who want to design, create and build their futures in ways that improve lives and communities.

Why do we think Innovation Nation will help you be successful in the College of Business and at OSU? Because research shows:

  • Living-learning communities like ours will help you develop intellectually as well as socially.
  • You’ll be more likely to persist in your work and feel connected to your classmates, college and university.
  • You’ll feel supported, because you are!
  • You’ll become more involved in the kinds of extracurricular activities that help you take charge of your own learning and help drive you toward the education and career you want.

Q & A

What should I bring to campus?
As you prepare to move to Oregon State University, take a look at these guidelines for what you'll need in your residence hall room.

What staff and resources exist within my residence hall?
Each hall has dedicated people and resources to help you be successful within your residential community.  See a list of support and resources here

What are my dining options?
University Housing and Dining offers a variety of dining options across campus.

What if I want to room with a non-Business roommate?
There are a limited number of rooms in the CoB LLC for pre-Business and non-Business roommates. All available rooms are in Poling Hall. Contact UHDS for details – the sooner the better!

What is UHDS's First-Year Live-On Policy?
As part of the First-Year Experience program, living on campus is an important component of a student’s first year at OSU. On-campus living provides unique resources and connections that help students create a successful and well-rounded college career. Learn more about the policy here.

What if I want to live off campus?
We feel strongly that Innovation Nation will help you create your best possible educational experience. How strongly? Enough to make Innovation Nation a standard part of the first-year pre-business student experience. But if you have reason to believe you’d be better off in a different living environment, you can submit an exemption request by contacting UHDS

What if I want to live in a different residence hall - other than a College of Business LLC?
Contact UHDS

What impact will not living in a College of Business LLC have on my experience?
If you do not live in one of our three LLCs, you will have limited access to these buildings for events and activities.

Can my parent make an appeal on my behalf?
Only you as a student – not a parent or anyone else, due to Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) policies – can make the exemption request. University Housing and Dining Services determines any exemptions based on their policy and your status as a pre-business student.
